I would say I am usually more excited for Milan Fashion Week than New York and London. Maybe it's the fact that I'm Italian? I'm not exactly sure but here are some of my favorite collections from MFW:
Dolce & Gabbana
I have always been a huge fan of Dolce & Gabbana. I absolutely love their bold prints, and the hair + makeup at the shows are always beautiful. The lace work and embroidery on the garments are always exquisite. This latest collection had a fairy tale-like theme to it. The runway was designed to mimic an enchanted forest, and the classical music used made it even more extravagant. One thing the designer duo does not do is limit themselves to a small color palette. The collection was filled with pieces of various colors and statement-making prints. The crowd absolutely loved the corset dresses, traditional coats, and embellished head pieces on the runway. As usual, the accessories were fabulous. Here are my favorite looks:

Just as everyone expected, the finale was a MASTERPIECE. An army of models in what looked like a new and glamourous take on chain mail closed the show, thus giving the crowd a happily ever after.

Blugirl
Anna Molinari created Blugirl to be the younger sibling label of Blumarine. It is far more laid back and is targeted towards young women. This collection pays homage to the 60s era, with the use of flared pants and feminine baby-doll dresses. The garments stuck to a pallet of soft pastels, with a few pops of leopard print. Hair and makeup were kept simple to add to the light tone of the show. Touches of glam were added, such as floral pieces and sequined garments. Platform heels and girly accessories tied the looks together. Here are my favorite looks:

Gucci
Gucci is no longer creating clothes strictly for "a night on the town." The latest collection was surprisingly appropriate for the daytime, even the office! Creative director Frida Giannini created several suits (with complimenting fur jackets, of course) and structured handbags that resembled briefcases. You will not find any sky-high stilettos in this collection. Giannini kept the heels at a reasonable height and again, suitable for wearing while the sun is still up. She also incorporated a few pairs of sunglasses that coordinated with the pastel-filled color pallet. It is quite refreshing to see a designer take the term "ready to wear" so seriously. My favorite looks:
